We request an explanation why the division is set against teaching basic math, language arts and science within it's school even so after an interview it was made quite clear by university professors and the business community that the current curriculum and the end results, the graduates, lack the basic skills in these categories to enter and/or succeed in universities/colleges and in the business community.
Also is the division aware that many parents within the division are turning to tutoring institutions in order to help their students succeed where the schools are failing. Is the division also aware that many of their teachers are afraid to teach the basics curriculum or are unable to do so due to short comings from their own education received within the current curriculum.
We are aware that the Deputy Minister of Education is involved and meetings are being scheduled, and would request from the division to take an active part in revamping the current curriculum to something that teaches students on how to succeed in the real world.
