- Our children are our future, we must keep them safe!
- Their safety should be EVERYONES priority!
- Children should not be unsupervised at any time on their school grounds!
- If a breakfast program is offered at a school, then playground supervision should be offered as well, during those breakfast hours!
- Students should never be sent out to an empty, unsupervised playground EVER!
- It takes but a single minute for a child to disappear!
- In the event that OUR SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES have had 11 ATTEMPTED ABDUCTIONS in less than two weeks, we would think this would be enough for schools to implement policy change!
Edison Elementary is currently one of few DPS elementary schools that DOES NOT offer playground supervision during their breakfast hours which are 8:00-8:30am. I have gone to the effort of sitting down and discussing this topic thouroughly with our current Principal Sally Whitlock. I'm saddened to say that meeting didn't go well at all. She's totally against trying to work out some type of supervision for our children during breakfast. I am currently working with the DPS School Board trying to make a simple policy change to ensure the safety of our children. Never once did I think this would lead to fight I'm in now with Edison Elementary. I'm completely saddened and disgusted by the response I've recieved from our principal Sally Whitlock. We should be working as a team to ensure the safety of all our children, and not against eachother. I ask for your support and signature to help us keep our kids safe while on school grounds! Our children are unsupervised for a whole 30 min and I feel and only hope that our community feels the same, that is 100% UNACCEPTABLE AND INEXCUSABLE!
