The Sri Lankan government often proudly says that there is free education in Sri Lanka but in fact, this is not the reality! I have been living in Sri Lanka for more than 7 years and as the Chairperson of a German Child Aid Organization, I keep fighting for children's rights to free education as education is the ONLY way out of poverty!!
The so called "tuition class system" which was started in Sri Lanka by government teachers in order to earn a better living doesn't give any chance to under-privileged children as they have to pay a lot of money for extra classes in order to pass their exams. Without attending these private classes, hardly any child will be able to have a good future and won't be able to stand on their own feet. The circle of poverty will continue as long as this system won't be changed!
If the government teachers were better paid and didn't depend on additional income to earn their living by giving private classes, there would be a fair educational system for everybody in Sri Lanka.
Convince the government of Sri Lanka to stop the tuition class system and give equal rights and access to education to ALL children in the country by signing this petition! Make a change for a better and more peaceful world!!
