People should sign this petition because the Textile Bridge is a historical landmark that has been around since 1865. It was named after Jack Kerouac-Lowell's famous author. Lowell plans to demolish the bridge completely once a new bridge is contructed 200 ft to the west. In my opinion, the Textile Bridge should stay as a pedestrian bridge. There are college students going to UMass-Lowell who could use the bridge to their advantage. It just seems a waste of millions of dollars to tear down a bridge when it could be used for other reasons.
