- The new university should be named the "University of Augusta" instead of "Georgia Regents University." Listed, are a few reasons for why that change would be benificial for the school.
- Associating a university with a state board of regents is unheard of. It takes agency of the university away from the students and faculty and gives it to a group of bureaucrats. The school would be less attractive to potential applicants who are looking for their place in a new school.
- The university should embrace its ties to the City of Augusta. The College of Charleston, The University of Rochester, and Pomona College are just a few examples of schools that have embraced their community and have excelled in drawing in students from across the nation. Their percentages of out-of-state students among their student bodies are 34.2%, 54%, and 68%, respectively.
- The university should not want to distance themselves from Doctors Hospital’s burn center, University’s heart and cancer centers, MCG’s pediatrics, and the VA’s spinal cord injury unit by not putting "Augusta" in the name. All of them are regionally recognized medical centers.
- School sporting events are an excellent way to increase revenue for the school and the best way for the new school to maximize their revenue at such events is to draw on the community of Augusta that has supported ASU athletics for years.
