I am writing to ask for your help in a matter that has become of some
importance to myself and our neighbors. We live on 157 Coleridge Ave and
would like to have speed bumps on our street between Strahmore Bvd (by the
woodbine subway station) to Mortimer Ave. The taxi stand on Strathmore by
the Woodbine Subway Station uses Coleridge as a way in and out of the area
and constantly speed up and down the street to either go get fares or get
back to their spot in line at the stand. We have had an influx of new
families and lots of babies on our street, 4 around our address on Coleridge
and my daycare at the corner. Nothing works for the cars, the cars run too
fast; I have placed some signs on my lawn (" BE CARFUL WE HAVE KIDS AT PLAY.
SLOW DOWN" ) for the cars to be careful with the speed but it didn't work.
Actually, in the past I send a petition for the 4 stop (at the corner of
Sammon Ave. & Coleridge Ave ) but this one is not working either, a lot of
drivers do not respect the 4 stops. I will canvass the neighborhood to get
the appropriate amount of signatures on a petition to get the city to
install speed bumps on Coleridge.
