Remove Senator John McCain from the Republican Party
Senator John McCain consistently votes against his Republican colleagues in the Senate. The latest vote against Graham-Cassidy healthcare bill is the last straw. The American Writers Museum, a new attraction on Chicago's Michigan Avenue, includes a section saluting Chicago writers, each honored Chicago writer being represented by a banner and a biography. Most of the worthy names are there. Del Close (though he was known primarily as a director and performer, not a writer) is there for his work in improv. Viola Spolin is not. This is a dismaying omission. DEL would say it is a dismaying omission. He once said to me (with characteristic grumpiness), "Viola got there before any of the rest of us." Spolin was the author of several books, the most famous of which, IMPROVISATION FOR THE THEATER (published by Northwestern University in the early 1960s), has gone through several dozen printings. It is not an exaggeration to say that it is one of the most important and influential books of the American theatre, laying out the theoretical foundation of the improvisation theatre movement. KCON IN CHICAGO
Kcon is an event that has many popular Korean Idols, YouTubers and many more fun activities that happens every year in different states and countries. Recently, these events have been held in LA, NYC, Australia, New Mexico, & Japan. Of course these cities and countries are very populated and are good for such an event. So why isn't Chicago in this type of event? Chicago aka the Windy City, is a very popular city with lots of diversity and a place to enjoy yourself. Having Kcon here, would be such a fun, exciting, and brilliant event not only for the Kpop fans, but for everyone to get to know about the Korean pop culture and for everyone to connect. Also having it in Chicago, it gives people the opportunity to look around the city and enjoy the beautiful scenes, museum's, the food, and the skyscrapers.

Holiday RV & Marine Must Leave Key Largo Florida
Following Hurricane Irma making landfall in the Lower Keys on 9/9 - 9/10/2017, my fiancé, Stephen Homsey (General Manager of Holiday RV’s Keys, LLC), and I (Warranty Administrator for Holiday RV) organized a relief effort through donations from the local community and afar. At the time, the roads south of mile marker 73 were closed due to erosion of the road during the storm. We discovered this because immediately after the storm he and I packed 2 trauma bags and other essentials and headed to the lower keys knowing that the upper keys were ok to check on people who had stayed. Finding out that the roads were closed spawned an idea to get the supplies to the victims by boat. I found a captain and boat, organized donations and drop off locations. We had received authorization to do this by the homeland security and validated volunteers. We delivered 3 ton by boat. Once the roads were open the deliveries were done by vehicle and continue to this day. Over 30 ton of supplies and essentials being delivered to our southern neighbors who were trapped and cut off from any help. We delivered directly to neighborhoods and homes not to a FEMA or Red Cross distribution center.
Our bosses, Jack and Melody Novoa, knew what we were doing, They didn't want to help or donate yet said "Good Luck". We utilized our time, knowledge, skills and connections to the fullest extent during the week following Hurricane Irma. Had we evacuated we would not have returned to work until 9/18/2017 due to the main road into the Keys being closed to anyone coming in. Several unanswered texts to Jack and Melody Novoa from Stephen Homsey informing them of what we were doing and that this would be a great opportunity to show the community support as the company itself has a bad reputation. Nothing. That is their choice and we respect that. At no point were we instructed to come back to work during the week of 9/11 – 9/15/2017 following the storm.
Upon returning to work on 9/18/2017 Melody and Jack took both, myself and Stephen Homsey, into a unit. Jack started off very aggressive. Screaming at Stephen and I that we betrayed the company because we helped others and not be there to clean up their property. They were selling units that week and needed us. Fired on the spot for unauthorized absence. At no point were we asked to come back to work nor was anyone else as the evacuation was still in effect. Stephen and I have video of the aftermath of the property before Jack and Melody arrived after the storm cleared. It had very minimal damage and was ok. Of course, I checked on my work property as we live directly behind it. I loved my job and took pride in it. Never late, no write up, just received a raise and Jack shook my hand and said we would talk about another raise after the storm. He had seen the numbers after being gone for 3 weeks and was impressed with my ability to get the “Back” warranty owed to them, nearly $20,000 of $80,000 in 2 months. I’m mentioning this to show that there was no animosity previously. I’m completely blindsided by this. We also rent from them and have to vacate. We are in a natural disaster state and there has to be some sort of laws against this.

Save the South Chicago YMCA
The announced closing of the South Chicago YMCA at 91st and Houston has the potential of impacting the future growth and revitalization of our community and could set back the wellness of many of our seniors, families, and youth. The YMCA has been an important staple in this community for over 90 years.
Planned and structured disinvestment continues to destroy the very fabric, culture, and vibrancy of our community. The loss of YMCA programs effectively serves to undermine the revitalization of the South-East Region (South Shore, South Chicago, Calumet Heights, South Deering, South East Side and Hegewisch). The unintended consequence of closing the YMCA is to drive another stake in the heart and soul of the area and its residents and to open the door to further disinvestment and displacement.

Demand a higher charge for Briley Hayes
Yesterday a friend of our Jessica Renea was beaten for over four hours by her ex boyfriend Briley Hayes in an attempt to keep her from leaving him. He said "if I can't have you no one can" and took it upon himself to detain her and threaten her life over and over again. The Montgomery County Police Department assessed him with the charges of only "Aggrivated Assault, unlawful kidnapping, and interfereing with a 911 call" and this is unacceptable. The charge should be attempted murder. We as a community need to ensure that we will not allow our justice system to stand by and not give him the charges he deserves.
